CoachKelly

Michael Kelly - Varsity Head Coach

This is Coach Michael Kelly’s 26th season as a head basketball coach, all of which have been in the great state of Washington. His teaching and coaching stops have included Liberty HS (’96-‘98), Redmond HS (’98-’04), and Seattle Prep (’04-‘22) before this first season as a Falcon. He is graduate of St. Mary’s College of California where he received his Bachelor of Arts in English and, more importantly, met his beautiful bride Megan (Wilson) Kelly. Together they have four awesome kids: Declan (22), Bevin (19), Liam (15), and Rowan (13). He loves spending time with family playing cards, board games, and making food together.

This past summer Coach Kelly was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. In his previous 25 years as a head coach, he has amassed a 448-209 win/loss record. He has been fortunate to have 14 teams play at the State Tournament and reach the Tacoma Dome with two State Final appearances and a State Championship in 2006. He’s had players go on to participate at all levels of college and professionally, including the NBA.

However, what he enjoys most is the relationships he has built with players and the friendships that continue to thrive years after players quit wearing a uniform for him. Coach Kelly says, “I feel so blessed and excited to be teaching and coaching at Woodinville. It is important for me to be at a school that values relationships and sees and recognizes the uniqueness of each individual student. I have been welcomed incredibly well by the students, staff, faculty, and administration at Woodinville and hope to serve, form, and transform students in the hopes they find their authentic and best selves.”
