2017-18 Select Program Coaching Staff


Bill is in his 3rd season as a head coach in the Woodinville basketball program, leading last year's 8th grade team to a 4th-place finish in the Eastside Travel League and berths in the ETL-Wesco Feeder Bowl and Washington State Tournament.

He brings over 25 years of basketball coaching experience gained from coaching in most of the high school gyms in the state. He was the administrative assistant at NCAA Division II Seattle Pacific for 5 years, and he has head coaching experience at Shoreline Christian High School and Concordia Lutheran School. He was varsity assistant/JV coach at Tyee High School, Ballard High School, Watson Groen Christian, and Seattle Christian. For the past two springs, he has coached with the North City AAU program.

Bill works as a Special Education Paraeducator for the Northshore School District, and is a Bothell resident.


Coach Mendo enters his 1st season coaching in the Woodinville Select program. In 27 years of experience of coaching across the professional, college, and AAU levels of basketball, he was worked with more than 30,000 athletes. He is the founder and owner of Quick Handle™ basketball training academy, where he trains youth in the physical and mental aspects of the sport, with many of his players going to play college and professional basketball.

He has coached professionally in Austria and Bahrain, winning a league championship with Muharraq Club and leading his team to a bronze medal in the Gulf Arab Championships. He was head coach at Portland Community College, Simpson University in Redding, CA, and Northwest University. His 2002-03 team finished 3rd at the NCCAA National Championships.

He and his wife, Teresa, head have four children: Jessica, Tyler, Dominique, and Alexandra, all of whom are involved in the local basketball community.


Sam enters his 2nd season coaching in the Woodinville Select program, after helping run the Junior Falcons development program last season. He has coached at the youth level in basketball, baseball, and football for the past six seasons. Born and raised in Houston, TX, Sam came to the Pacific Northwest to play collegiate basketball at Pacific Lutheran University, where he finished his career fifth all-time in season field goal percentage.


Sam’s goals are teaching his players the importance of team and the positive impact basketball can have on their lives. He and his wife, Kristin, have three children: Branson, Natalie, and Scarlett.


Matt enters his second season coaching in the Woodinville basketball program. He has coached youth basketball for the past four years through the NYBA and involvement with Home Court, as well as coaching in the Woodinville lacrosse program for the past 2 years.

Matt grew up in Indiana, which is where his belief in the traditional motion offense and fundamentally sound half-court defense was ingrained at a young age. He played basketball for 4 years at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, where he was the co-captain for his junior and senior seasons.

Matt is excited to join the Woodinville program as it allows him to create a passion for the game that makes kids want to play next year while they build skills that will allow them to play for many years to come.

Matt lives in Woodinville where he owns a State Farm Agency and loves being involved in the community. He and his wife Amy have three children -- Drew, Luke, and Sam.
