2021-2022 Select Program Coaching Staff

BILL WOODCOCK – 8TH GRADE

This is Bill’s second year coaching in the Woodinville Select Basketball program.

Bill and his wife Shannon are 21-year residents of Woodinville. During that time, Bill has coached at many different levels - from NYBA to Boys and Girls Clubs to most recently, coaching the junior varsity team at Timbercrest Middle School for four years (both boys and girls). Bill has also coached at the high school level. Bill’s son was a part of the Woodinville Select program as were his twin girls. So he is very familiar with the program, and in his own words, “I believe in it and I’m honored to be a part of it”

As the coach of the 8th grade team, Bill believes his most important job is to make sure the boys continue to develop their individual skills and to really understand how the game of basketball, offensively and defensively, should be played. His emphasis will be to make sure the boys appreciate that defense is hard work, and that on offense they need to be fundamentally sound. This includes proper floor spacing, player movement with intent, proper screening technique and shooting form.

To paraphrase Gene Hackman from Hoosiers…Welcome to Woodinville Falcons basketball!!

ANKIT TOMAR – 7TH GRADE

This is Ankit’s fourth season coaching in the Woodinville Select program, last year serving as head coach for the 6th grade team. As a coach, Ankit believes in building lasting relationships and player development on and off the court. The theme he will be implementing in this year’s team is to play “tough and together”.

As a player, Ankit first started playing basketball in 5th grade with Woodinville Select, growing and developing his skills to eventually bring to the high school varsity team. He also played varsity golf throughout his career and believes that the importance of footwork and mobility that he learned in golf immensely helped him in basketball.

Ankit graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Data Analytics. He currently resides in downtown Seattle and works for T-Mobile Inc. in Network Technology. He is excited to help young players grow and develop their basketball skills to the best of their ability.
